Upload Your Resume. Now Enter Everything Again: The Frustrating Reality of the Modern Job Application
You found a job that looks interesting. You click Apply and upload your resume.
Now the application asks you to enter your employment history, your education, your certifications, your skills and other information
Wasn’t all of that on the resume you just uploaded?
For all the technology that has supposedly made finding a job easier, the actual process of applying for one can sometimes feel more complicated than ever.
Create an account. Verify your email. Remember another password. Answer screening questions. Complete an assessment. Upload documents. Re-enter information you’ve already provided.
By the time you finally click submit, it can feel less like applying for a job and more like finishing an assignment. There has to be a better way.
Technology Was Supposed to Make the Job Search Easier
Candidates can search hundreds of opportunities from their phones. Employers can connect with people across the country. Recruiters can identify qualified professionals faster than ever.
Somewhere along the way, though, we started designing hiring systems around collecting information instead of creating conversations.
The result is an experience many job seekers know all too well:
Upload. Enter. Click. Submit. Wait.
Then repeat the entire process for the next opportunity.
The irony is that behind all those forms, portals, algorithms and applicant tracking systems are two people who ultimately need to find each other. Someone looking for the right opportunity and someone looking for the right person.
This process seems to be more complicated than it needs to be.
Healthcare staffing comes with real requirements.
Licenses need to be verified. Certifications need to be current. Work history matters. Depending on the position and client, there may be background checks, drug screenings, occupational health requirements, references, competency requirements and other credentialing steps. Those aren’t unnecessary hoops.
They’re part of putting qualified, compliant professionals into environments where they’ll be caring for patients and supporting healthcare organizations. Necessary requirements, however, don’t have to create an unnecessarily difficult experience.
That’s where the staffing company should be doing some of the work for you.
A Staffing Company Should Do More Than Send You a Link
At Alerion, we don’t believe our role begins and ends with sending you a job posting and asking you to apply. We’re supposed to work for you. That starts with a conversation and that’s information you can’t always capture with another dropdown menu.
Let Us Do Some of the Searching
One of the biggest differences between endlessly applying to jobs yourself and working with a recruiter is that you don’t have to do all of the searching alone.
Once we understand what you’re looking for, our recruiters can look for opportunities that match.
That means instead of opening another job board every night, scrolling through listings, filling out another application and hoping someone sees it, you have another set of eyes in the market working on your behalf and sometimes the conversation isn’t:
“I found a job. Can I apply?”
It’s:
“We found an opportunity we think you should hear about.”
That’s how we believe staffing should work.
When We Find Something, We Help You Through It
Finding the opportunity is only the beginning. Our team can help you understand the position, the requirements and the process. We coordinate with clients, help keep the process moving, assist with onboarding and credentialing requirements, and communicate with you along the way.
Will you still need to provide information and complete required documentation? Absolutely. This is healthcare. Compliance matters.
However, you shouldn’t feel like you’ve been handed a stack of instructions and left alone to figure out what happens next.
You should have someone to call. Someone who knows your name. Someone who knows which job you’re talking about. Someone who can answer a question when you have one and someone who is working toward the same goal you are: getting you into the right opportunity.
Your Resume Is the Beginning, Not the Relationship
The modern job search has become incredibly transactional.
- Click
- Upload.
- Submit.
- Wait.
At Alerion, we’d rather start with something decidedly less complicated. You’re more than the information contained in your resume.
You have preferences, goals, questions, deal-breakers and experiences.
Understanding those things helps us do a better job of representing you and finding opportunities that actually make sense.
If the first opportunity isn’t right, that doesn’t mean we have to start from zero. We already know you. We aknow what you’re looking for. When the next opportunity comes across our desk, we can think of you.
Maybe the Job Search Doesn’t Need Another Application
There will always be forms to complete. There will always be credentials to verify. There will always be information healthcare employers legitimately need before someone can start working. We’re not going to pretend otherwise.
Still, the candidate experience can still be easier. It can be more personal and involve better communication. That’s what Staffing Made Easy means to us.
Ready to See What’s Out There?
You don’t need to spend all day filling out application after application. Talk to us.
Tell us what you’re looking for, what matters to you and where you’d like your career to go next. Then let our recruiters go to work for you.
Whether you’re actively looking for your next healthcare opportunity or you’re simply curious about what’s available, we’d love to start the conversation.
Your next opportunity shouldn’t begin with another test It should begin with someone who listens.
